The building looks normal enough. There are high cathedral styled walls that boast a detailed stained glass mural. There’s a little garden to the right of the door and the marquee looks pretty standard enough, but if you take a glance over the entrance door, you may be surprised at what you see. First Church Somerville opens its doors to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community. But don’t worry this untraditional congregation is very much traditional in its ideology and church service structure. Mahatma Gandhi’s infamous saying “Be the change you want to see in the world,” is the motto of the sanctuary.
