For those who thought that the brick and mortar record store was dead, be prepared to see quite a few “ghosts” floating around town. The spirit of record store demand still can be found in the almost 20 record stores still active and thriving in the Boston area. Each sells vinyl records in some form.

The In Your Ear record store in Allston has been a local staple for vinyl enthusiasts for over 20 years, with a second store also in Cambridge. Co-owner Reed Lappin said he doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. “This will be our ‘vinyl’ resting place,” he joked.
